Designer Nina Campbell’s Inspiration

By Lynn Byrne.  When famous interior designer Nina Campbell talks, I listen.  Hard.

Well recognized as one of the most prominent interior designers in the world, Nina gave a very funny but informative presentation last week at the D&D Building’s Fall Market on her recent projects and new collections.  When the image of her entryway above flashed across the screen, she slipped in that her entry’s new wall color was inspired by the inside of a pot created by ceramicist Kate Malone.

Never having heard of Kate Malone, I scribbled her name down in my “always with me” moleskin notebook, so I would remember to look her up at home.  Of course her work is fabulous.  How could it not be if Nina Campbell finds her inspiring.

Visit Kate’s website (where these images came from) to see more.

Nina also spoke about the need to “refresh” our interiors.  She says you don’t have to scrap it all and start over to get a new look. For her own home, she did it with paint and a new cover for her loveseat.  What do you think of this earlier rendition of her entry way?  Which one do you prefer?
