By Lynn Byrne. The day after Christmas is simply bliss, especially today with the snow falling heavily here in the NYC area. Yesterday was a wonderful celebration at my home.
For Christmas, I play up the Victorian in my tabletop to pay homage to the architectural style of my house. Those are my boys out front. The blow ups were their idea. They came home with them when we sent them out for large garbage bags on Christmas Eve day! Our new young neighbors (ages 6 and 7) were reassured because they felt certain that Santa would find them in their new house with a 12 foot likeness right next door.
But back to the table. I use my heirloom sterling silver plus my collection of Friendly Village plates that showcase different scenes from a Victorian Christmas. I scored mine on Ebay some years ago. I think they are charming. Here is one.
The burlap runner is from Pottery Barn. Layered on top are 2 snowflake runners snagged right after Thanksgiving at Target. The pewter metallic placemats are by David Stark for West Elm.
Back to plowing through my large stack of new design books! Enjoy today everyone.
